Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By downloading, accessing, or using Within Budget, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. The App

Within Budget is a personal finance tracking tool designed to help you manually record and review your income, expenses, accounts, budgets, goals, and related information. The App is not a bank or financial institution, and we do not provide investment, tax, legal, or financial advice.

3. Eligibility

You must be legally able to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use the App. If you use family features, you are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary consent and authority to share data with other participants.

4. Accounts, Sync, and Family Sharing

  • Offline-first: many features work without creating an online account.
  • If you enable sign-in and/or cloud sync, your data may be stored and processed on third-party infrastructure to provide the service.
  • Family sharing: if you invite or join a family, data you choose to share may be visible to other participants. You are responsible for who you share with and for reviewing what is shared.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your device and any authentication methods you use.

5. Subscriptions and Purchases

Some features may require a paid subscription. Purchases and renewals are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play (and may be managed through RevenueCat). Pricing, trials (if any), renewal, cancellation, and refunds are governed by the applicable store's terms and your store account settings.

  • Auto-renewal: subscriptions typically renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date.
  • Cancellation: manage through your App Store / Google Play subscription settings.
  • Refunds: handled by Apple/Google under their policies.

6. Your Data

You retain ownership of the data you enter into the App. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive right to process that data solely to operate and improve the App (for example, syncing across devices, displaying charts, or enabling family sharing when you choose it).

You are responsible for the accuracy of your entries and for reviewing outputs before relying on them. Export and deletion tools are available in Settings.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for unlawful purposes or in violation of applicable laws.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or bypass security or access controls.
  • Interfere with the App's operation, including through automated scraping, excessive requests, or abuse of sync endpoints.
  • Upload or share content that infringes others' rights or includes malware or harmful code.

8. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services (for example, Supabase, PostHog, Sentry, RevenueCat, Apple, and Google). We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their acts or omissions. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" to the maximum extent permitted by law. We make no warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Without limiting the above, we do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any calculations, exchange rates, categorizations, or balances will be accurate or suitable for your purposes.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the App.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid to use the App in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim (or, if you have not paid anything, the minimum amount permitted by law).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (for example, liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence where not waivable, or mandatory consumer rights).

11. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the App's developer and its affiliates from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another person.

12. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. You may delete your account via Settings → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate access to online features if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, to protect the service, or to comply with law.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be made available in the App and/or at withinbudget.app/terms.
